Jericha and Finneas have lived a fairytale life, rearing their two daughters, Tuli and Mora, in present-day earth. Then Jericha begins to experience strange distortions in the fabric of her life and one morning Finneas awakes to discover her gone.

Convinced that Jericha is in the Faraway Place, Finn tries to figure out how to summon the light. Mora and Tuli, now teen-agers join their father in an incredible adventure.

The three of them find Mishva and the Old One and learn the whereabouts of Jericha. They meet other strange inhabitants of the Faraway Place and even some who seem familiar.

Finn, Tuli and Mora set off on a journey that none of them could have guessed at in their wildest imaginings, presenting obstacles and opening portals none ever thought existed. Is this the end of their perfect lives? Will Jericha fulfill her destiny as the Ambolaja?
